A ROAD had to be closed when a tree was blown down during gale-force winds yesterday.
The tree blocked Ash Lane and Lowerfold, in Great Harwood.
Sixteen-year-old Lancashire Telegraph reader Rebecca Sharples took this photo just after 5pm.
She said: “We knew it was windy, but we didn’t realise it was that bad.”
A diversion was put in place and the road was cleared later that evening.
It came as strong winds battered Britain. The Met Office issued a severe weather warning amid 114mph gusts in the Scottish Highlands.
Forecaster Michael Dukes said the winds were ‘as strong as you ever get in late May.’ but said they would now ease off.
