THICK black smoke poured from a burning workshop after a car caught fire.
Fire crews were called to the garage off Burnley Road, Blackburn, near the Whitebirk Roundabout just after 3.15pm today.
A vehicle that had been hoisted onto a ramp had caught alight, with the plastic trimming and upholstery releasing plumes of smoke.
The six staff had evacuated the premises and tried to put out the fire using an extinguisher.
When the two fire engines arrived, crews used breathing apparatus to guard against the toxic fumes and hose reels to tackle the flames.
A fan was used to clear the air, and the car and some equipment were destroyed in the blaze.
