EIGHT points from a possible 15 is a good return for the Clarets. I would have taken that before the start of the season.

Saturday's draw at Crystal Palace was a great result.

We've a good record at Selhurst Park - I remember thinking that in previous years we've not done badly down there.

The result and performance will give the lads a lot of confidence, especially after what happened in the Carling Cup.

They would have been gutted after the Hartlepool game and taken it hard because they were expected to win against a side two leagues below.

After that result, I reckon they were pleased to play away from home.

If they were at Turf Moor again and struggled for the first 15 minutes, you would hear murmurs from the terraces and it might get to the players.

The pressure was taken off a little bit going to Palace, more so because they were not really expected to get a result.

Palace are under-achievers, but I would expect them to be in the top five or six by the end of the season.

Someone like Clinton Morrison was on the bench, so it shows the strength in depth there.

In that respect, it was a very good result and we were not far away from three points because they equalised with 15 minutes left.

Obviously, Brian Jensen kept us in the game late on with three or four excellent saves, but we deserved a draw.

It was important for Alan Mahon to get off the mark.

For ages, we've not had a goalscoring midfielder getting 10 goals but Mahon has a chance.

He is on every free-kick and set-piece looking for goals.

Last season, Garreth O'Connor got five or six goals early doors and was top scorer for a time. He was looking for double figures in the league and fell a bit short.

But we need someone from midfield chipping in all the time.
