EIGHT young film makers will see their work on the big screen in Blackburn this week.

Teenagers who use Fusebox, a day centre run by Nightsafe, have been working with artists from Action Factory to create a film about how young people can change their lives through positive activities such as poetry and music.

And after weeks researching, filming and editing their production, the group can finally see their finished short film on one of the Vue Cinema screens.

A spokesperson for Action Factory, a community-based arts group, said: "The film is a positive view of young people, by young people and concludes that if given chances then young people can go on to be successful.

"The cinema is providing us with a screen so that we can show the film to young people, councillors and the mayor and others involved in the project.

"This is a real achievement for these youngsters and we hope the film will inspire others to get involved in different projects to channel their energy and creativity in a positive way."

The project has been funded by Blackburn with Darwen Council and the North West Development Agency, with musical equipment provided by the Youth Bank.

l The film can be seen at The Vue Cinema, Blackburn, from 6pm to 7pm on Thursday, August 31.
