A TROUT farm is set to expand after being bought out by management.
Bosses Philip Mart and David Jones have acquired Dunsop trout farm, at Dunsop Bridge, near Clitheroe, from the Birtwistle family for an undisclosed fee.
The farm is one of the oldest in the UK and one of the few in the Ribble Valley not owned by either United Utilities or the Duchy of Lancaster.
It is used to restock brown and rainbow trout and is popular with anglers.
Mr Mart said: “We currently produce around 45 tonnes of fish annually for restocking, but we want to grow the business.
“As part of this buy-out we are looking to increase production as well as exploring other expansion opportunities, including a smoking house and farm shop which would allow us to move into retail, too.”
Mr Mart and Mr Jones were advised on the purchase by Preston-based Harrison Drury Solicitors. The farm occupies six acres and employs three people.
