A POPULAR children’s book came to life for children at Heasandford Primary School, Burnley.

The 90 foundation year children at the Williams Road school started a project based on the book The Naughty Bus earlier this year.

Yesterday the project ended with a visit to the school of a real bus from Transdev Burnley and Pendle.

Nigel Eggleton, marketing director for Transdev Burnley and Pendle, said: “One of the teachers at the school got in touch with us to tell us about the project and asked if we could help.

“The school wanted to build on the children’s enthusiasm by introducing them to a life-size bus and teaching them how to use a bus and about safety and awareness.

“When we heard about the project we were delighted to help, we sent along one of our state-of-the-art Mainline buses for a couple of days.”

Kate Sullivan, one of the teachers involved, said: “The children have really got excited by the project and so we thought we’d get in touch with Transdev to see if they could help.

“We were delighted when they offered to bring the bus along.

“It will really round off a great project and hopefully the children will remember the experience for a long time.”
