TWO men who came to Colne tooled up to steal motorbikes had a ‘thief's kit’ in a van.
The vehicle was seen by police in the early hours moving slowly with the brake lights on and off.
Leigh Jackson, 28, was driving and a 17-year-old was a passenger.
Jackson claimed they were lost, Burnley Crown Court heard.
But under a loose panel in the van were bolt croppers, a crowbar and jemmy. Gloves and a screwdriver were also in the vehicle.
Jackson, from Ovenden, West Yorkshire, and his co-accused, both admitted going equipped to steal.
Jackson was given nine months in jail, suspended for two years, with 12 months supervision. He must pay £300 costs.
The youth received a 12- month rehabilitation order, with 100 hours unpaid work.
