A NEW £8million sixth form building has opened in Rossendale.
The new ag6 centre was officially unveiled at Alder Grange Community and Technology School yesterday.
Staff, sixth formers and their parents watched as headteacher Iain Hulland, construction boss Wayne Bardsley, of Bardsley Construction, and ag6 student Lauren Tahir cut the ribbon to declare the state-of-the-art centre open.
Iain Hulland said: "Several years of hard work has finally paid off and all of the planning and the thinking that has gone into this project is absolutley tremendous.
"We are all very pleased."
The new building includes everything from science laboratories, a media studio and performance space to nursery and creche facilities for child development students, as well as ICT and library facilities.
Head of sixth form Jo Griffiths said that students have been excited to see the final outcome.
"It is an amazing building and we are all really pleased with the outcome.
"Each classroom has been well-planned and will benefit the students in all of their subjects very well."
