LANCASHIRE Police is using social networking site Facebook to connect with residents.

Officers want residents to visit the police's Facebook page and click ‘like’ to become a fan.

They'll then receive news from Lancashire Police as well as details of what is being done to tackle local issues.

The launch of the Facebook page follows on from Lancashire Constabulary’s Twitter account which has more than 2,000 followers.

Chief Superintendent Tim Jacques said: “Lancashire Constabulary is keen to remain at the forefront of technology and explore all avenues available to us to help keep residents informed and combat crime.”

The Facebook page, which can be found at www.facebook.com/lancashirepolice, launched yesterday.
