FOUR men arrested after an attack which left a Barnoldswick man seriously ill in hospital have been released without charge.

Detectives detained men aged 31, 30, 24, and 20, after a man suffered serious head injuries during an incident in Church Street, on January 15.

The man, aged 21, is still in a serious condition at St James’ University Hospital, in Leeds, following the attack when he was knocked to the floor.

Police have now confirmed that, following discussions with lawyers from the Crown Prosecution Service, the four West Craven men originally quizzed have been released from their bail, without any further action being taken.

Detectives have focused their inquiries on anyone who may have been coming out of the Conservative Club, in nearby Station Road, and three women seen outside Flava’s takeaway, between 12.30am and 1am.

CCTV from the area has also been studied.

People with any fresh information about the incident should call Lancashire Police on 01282 425001, or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
