BLACKBURN car dealership Bowker BMW is hosting a ‘hug a staff member event today in a bid to raise charity cash.
The event celebrates the announcement of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust as the dealership’s official charity for 2011.
Throughout the day, Bowker BMW customers will be encouraged to donate a discretionary amount to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust for each hug received - on a strictly one hug per customer basis.
Chris Eccles from the firm said: “Staff have been putting in a lot of practice over the last few days. "We’ve been fully trained on hugging protocols so we are ready for anything.
“I would encourage anyone who would like a hug on Valentines Day to visit our dealership and choose a member of staff who fits the bill.”
"This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a year ahead of fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Customers will be invited to choose which staff member they would like to hug.
Wherever possible, hugs will continue to be administered during breaks in work so not to detract from staff tasks.
The 'Bowker BMW Hug' event began at 9am and the last hug will be administered no later than 5pm.
