A HIT-and-run driver is being hunted after an accident left a woman’s car, which was also carrying her two-year-old daughter, with extensive damage.

Their Chevrolet Matiz car was hit on the roundabout at junction seven of the M65 at Clayton-le-Moors.

Police said the woman, who was driving from the Accrington direction, was hit from behind as she attempted to continue ahead on Dunkenhalgh Way.

The vehicle, described as a large green car, failed to stop and sped off turning on to the M65 towards Blackburn.

The car was driven by an Asian man and was carrying two passengers.

The incident happened at 4.45pm on Tuesday.

PC Mick Dewhurst said: “Fortunately neither the mother nor her daughter was seriously injured in the collision but there is extensive damage to the back of her car.

“As it happened so quickly she was unable to get a detailed description of the car but I would urge anybody that witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact us.”
