A MAN was hit with a glass in a Clitheroe pub after stepping into an argument over a bottle of beer which had been knocked over.
Blackburn magistrates heard Scott Alexander Whiteside claimed the bottle was full and was demanding the girl who had knocked it over buy him a replacement.
She said it was empty and refused. When Luke Kay put himself between them to protect his female friend he was struck with a glass while he had his hands in his pockets.
Whiteside, 22, of Waddow View, Waddington, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Kay causing him actual bodily harm.
He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report with a warning that all options including custody would be open to the sentencing bench.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the incident occurred in the beer garden of the White Lion pub.
Richard Prew, defending, said Whiteside accepted he got into a confrontation over the upset bottle of beer.
