A CHARITY boss banned for speeding has lost a fight to keep his driving licence.
Andrew Redmond, 48, who set up the Debt Advice Foundation, had earlier been disqualified for six months, under the totting up procedure, after clocking up 36mph in a 30mph zone, in December 2009.
He had already had nine points on his licence and was ordered off the road by Burnley magistrates, after getting three more.
Mr Redmond, also a non executive director of two companies, took the sentence to appeal.
He, claimed the ban would cause exceptional hardship, saying it would hit the Darwen-based charity. But, a judge disagreed and dismissed his appeal.
Judge Beverley Lunt said it was obvious the charity would be inconvenienced, but it would not prejudice its operations.
Mr Redmond, of Helmshore Road, Holcombe, must pay £250 costs.
He had earlier admitted the speeding allegation.
Stuart Denney, QC, for the appellant, said: “The fact is the ban will hit the charity.”
