BOSSES of a high street bank have delayed plans to close its Haslingden branch.
Customers of Barclay’s Bank, in Haslingden were facing longer trips to look after their cash after it was announced the Deardengate branch was to close on February 18.
But following a closer look at the town’s next neighbouring branch in Rawtenstall they have decided to delay the closure.
A Barclay’s Bank spokesman said: “A further review of our operations in the area has highlighted that the nearest neighbouring branch in Rawtenstall requires upgrading to ensure this branch is appropriate for the needs of all our customers.
“Until that is resolved, we have decided to keep Haslingden open.”
The move comes just months after the neighbouring Halifax Building Society franchise was also closed down.
The bank will be redirecting its customers after the closure to its nearest branches in Rawtenstall, Ramsbottom, or Accrington.
