A MAN shattered his pelvis after falling out of a third floor window last night.
Police said the man, who is believed to be in his 20s, fell from the Salvation Army hostel, Heaton Street, Blackburn, at around 9.10pm.
Officers were called to the scene following reports of a disturbance by staff at the centre.
When they arrived they discovered the man injured on the pavement.
He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital by paramedics.
The man was later transferred for specialist treatment for head injuries at the Royal Preston Hospital.
He is said to be in a serious but stable condition.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Officers arrested a 38-year-old man on suspicion of assault but he was released without charge yesterday.
Detectives were yesterday waiting for the injured man to recover enough so he could tell them what happened.
Inspector Graham Ashcroft said: “A man fell out of a third floor window.
“He suffered a number of injuries including a shattered pelvis and internal injuries.”
A police spokeswoman added: “There is an ongoing investigation into the circumstances leading up to the fall.
“The man who was arrested was released and no further action was taken.”
