BLACKBURN MP Jack Straw’s £462 claim for business rates was not paid as it did not comply with new rules, according to expenses watchdog The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (Ipsa).
Mr Straw said it had been paid later after he submitted more documentation.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “It arose from a misunderstanding about documentation required. This was quickly dealt with and the claim was paid.”
Ipsa published details of 145 wrongful claims by MPs it had thrown out in the space of six weeks because they did not comply with the new system.
