A FAMILY-run lighting company is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Tyson Lighting was founded as the Lighting Centre in Clitheroe in 1961 but later moved to Blackburn, where it has occupied several premises.

It is currently based in Walpole Street, off Lower Audley Street, and is still run by the Gibson family who founded it.

Among its prestigious list of clients in the past have been the Slug and Lettuce bar, All Bar One and Yates’s Wine Lodge.

The business is now run by Andrew Gibson, the grandson of founder Tom Gibson.

Mr Gibson, who can be seen centre with staff members at the Lighting Centre, said: ”I am proud of how the business has developed in the past 50 years since my grandparents began.

“I am very excited about what the future holds for the business as we continue to grow.”
