AN Accrington man who drove at his pregnant girlfriend in a van and struck her after a row has been jailed for six months.
Burnley Crown Court heard Christopher Procter, then 19, had at first clipped the teenager’s arm, but then drove off when she was right in front of him and hit her.
The baby was unharmed.
Procter, now 20, who has never been in trouble before, has been on remand after the incident, in June, last year.
The defendant, of Pothouse Lane, had admitted dangerous driving. He was also banned for two years and must take an extended driving test.
James Heyworth, for Procter, said he worked with his parents on their farms, but also had a job as a groundworker.
The hearing was told the defendant had found out his girlfriend was pregnant and didn't know if the child was his.
It led to an argument, she got out of the vehicle and he had clipped her with the wing mirror.
Procter felt angry and decided to drive off.
