EAST Lancashire paint giant Crown has strengthened its position at the country’s top independent manufacturer.
The Darwen-based firm has bought paint merchant, Newland Paint Supplies, in a deal that is expected to boost turnover by more than £1million.
Founded in 1985, Newland Paint Supplies has five branches across Yorkshire – in Bridlington, Harrogate, Hull, Scunthorpe and York – and specialises in the supply of paints and decorative materials to a wide range of trade and retail customers.
The Crown Decorating Centre network now numbers 134 stores across the UK.
Newland will continue to trade under its own name as part of the Crown Paints Group.
Brian Davidson, chief executive of Crown Paints, said: “The acquisition of Newland Paint Supplies fits with our growth strategy.
“It will add significantly to our top line while bringing into the Crown Decorating Centre network five new stores and a number of highly experienced staff.”
