A “SMALL-TIME” cannabis dealer was jailed for six months by Blackburn magistrates for his first drug-related offence.
The bench heard Mohammed Fahim Javid was caught with eight bags of cannabis, and police found drug- related messages on his mobile phone.
But Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client was supplying on a small scale to friends in order to pay for his own cannabis.
“He’s not driving round in flash cars, or stashing away vast quantities of money,” said Mr Taylor.
“He’s a small-time dealer making enough money to pay for his own use.”
Javid, 18, of Irving Place, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply.
He was sent to a Young Offenders’ Institute for 26 weeks.
