LEADING contemporary folk trio Sketch will be playing a special gig at in Colne on August 15.

The gig - the first of the year at Jim's - is to celebrate the regeneration of Market Street.

Sketch - Maggie Boyle on vocals and flute, guitarist Gary Boyle and Dave Bowie on double bass - mix traditional and contemporary folk with a hint and jazz.

Maggie has worked with famous names such as The Chieftains and Bert Jansch and she appeared on the title track for the hit film Patriot Games.

Gary Boyle has six solo albums to his name and began his career working with Dusty Springfield in the SIxties and touring with both Brian Auger and Julie Driscoll.

Dave Bowie, no relation, has worked with sax player Snake Davis for over 25 years and, specialising in Northern Soul, has played bass for Martha Reeves and Edwin Starr.

Sketch play Jim's Cafe in Colne on Tuesday, August 15. Doors open at 7.30pm.
