A PENSIONER claims she was left lying in bloody bedsheets and nightdress overnight at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Olive Roe, 77, from Pendleton, said she spent 12 hours in the dirty bedding after a nurse tried to take a blood sample.
And the widow alleges that at the end of her eight-day stay she was forced to get a taxi home – after being promised an ambulance.
She said: “Most of the nurses were good, but some didn’t give a damn.”
Mrs Roe was admitted to ward C18 on Sunday, November 21, due to problems with her stomach and bowels.
Mrs Roe claims she was told an ambulance would take her home, but six hours later she was told she would have to wait until midnight for transport home.
She said: “I was still there at 7pm and in the end I said ‘get me a taxi’ because I was told I wouldn’t be going home until 12.30am.
“I’m a widow, I live alone and I had to come home in the dark.
“The taxi driver was a gentleman. It cost me £16 but he helped me up the steps and into the house.”
Mrs Roe said she had complained to doctors and nurses about her treatment and intended to follow this up with a written complaint.
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust said it could not comment until a letter was received.
