A DAD-of-two and has died in a motorbike smash in North Wales.
Stephen Allan Williams, 52, of Robert Street, Waterfoot, died when the Triumph 675cc bike he was riding collided with a car on the A547 near Prestatyn.
His family described him as an ‘experienced and keen rider’ who loved his motorbikes.
Mr Williams, who had travelled down from Rossendale with his girlfriend by car to visit his family in North Wales, had been riding his dad Allan’s motorbike, with his girlfriend as pillion passenger, at the time of the crash.
He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
She suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.
His parents Allan and Sonya, his sister Tracy, brothers Rob and Gary, and his two sons, Craig and Paul, described Mr Williams as ‘full of fun and energy’.
The family are originally from Liverpool, but moved to Gronant and the children went to Prestatyn High School.
Mr Williams had lived in Rossendale for many years, police said.
Mother Sonya said: “With lots of friends and family in the area, Stephen was always over here visiting, his nickname was ‘Steve Scouse’ and a lot of people will know him as that. Stephen will be sadly missed.
“He joined the Merchant Navy when he left school and worked on Shell shipping tankers.”
His father Allan described his son as his ‘motorcycling buddy’ who often drove rom Rossendale to Dyserth so the two could go out riding together.
He said: “He loved his motorbikes and had been riding since he was 15 years old. He owned three bikes and was a very experienced motorcyclist. This weekend he drove to Wales in his car and on Monday Stephen and his girlfriend went off for a ride on my motorbike.”
His son Craig said: “My dad loved his bikes and used to take part in motor cross and track events all over the country. He also played pool in the Rossendale League.
“My dad was the most thoughtful of people and was always there, especially if we needed help with one of the grandchildren.”
All the family, including Mr Williams’ nephews and grandchildren ride motorbikes.
They thanked the police, fire and ambulance staff at the scene for their help and support.
