A MOTORBIKE fanatic fulfilled a dream when she appeared as a ‘grid girl’ for the British Superbikes race at Silverstone.
Jade Robinson, 20, won a national competition to be a ‘grid girl’ for the day for the Motorpoint Yamaha team at the latest round of the competition.
Jade, of Whitegate Close, Padiham, beat 22 other girls to win most votes from the public to carry out the role.
She said: “It is something I have always wanted to do and the experience was amazing.
“I’ve always loved superbikes. I used to get up early in the morning to watch Carl Fogarty on TV.
“My mum used to teach people how to ride motorbikes as well.”
Jade, a full-time dental nurse, arrived at the track on the Sunday morning in bright sunshine.
“It looked a lovely day when I arrived,” she said.
“But as soon as I got changed the heavens opened and it was very, very cold.
“I met the people behind the teams and the riders, and then did the paddock walk.
"But I was just trying to stop my legs shaking it was so cold.
“I enjoyed every minute, though.
“The weather didn’t faze me. I wouldn’t have cared if it was snowing.”
Jade now hopes to get a permanent position with a team for next season.
She said: “I would love to do it more often. Some of the girls do it for free and I can understand why.
"It’s an amazing feeling.”
