A SPURNED boyfriend has been jailed for 12 months after he ran his car over the foot of a man he suspected of having a relationship with his ex-girlfriend.
Billy Anker broke a bone in his victim’s foot during an incident in the Mill Hill area, in April last year.
He went on to be convicted following a trial of causing grievous bodily harm and also careless driving.
The court was earlier told Anker, 27, and his girfriend ended their relationship in March last year after he found out she was having an affair with a 27-year-old man.
At 9pm on April 14, Anker’s car ran over the man’s left foot.
Anker, of Nuttall Street, Blackburn, was also sentenced at Preston Crown Court yesterday for an offence of possessing ammunition without lawful authority, which he had admitted.
A live .22 ring fire round was discovered at his address by police investigating another matter.
Kath Johnson, defending, said her client had been convicted of a reckless act: “It was a narrow street, with parked cars on either side.
“He did not deliberately drive at him, intending to injure him”.
