ALMOST half of motorists would happily pay a charge to speed on Britain’s motorways, according to a poll by Burnley car supermarket Motorpoint.
The firm found that 45 per cent of people quizzed would pay a fee to drive faster than the 70mph limit on the nation’s motorways.
It comes after a candidate to be mayor of Nevada in the US proposed a £16-a-day charge to drive at up to 90mph on the state’s roads.
Motorpoint general manager Jon Grace said: “While there is a temptation to speed at certain times, we would urge drivers in Lancashire instead to give themselves more time with their journey in order to avoid breaking the law.”
Motorpoint, the North West’s largest car supermarket, is based in Rosegrove Lane.
