A CRACKDOWN has been urged on street traders in Brierfield after disgruntled shopkeepers threatened to revolt.
Goods vans without street trading permits have been spotted operating in both Arthur Street and Walter Street.
Coun Naeem Ashraf said: “This has got to stop because it is affecting proper shopkeepers.”
Council bosses say enforcement action will be taken, under current by-laws, once the culprits have been identified.
Council leader Coun Mike Blomeley said: “People are pulling up in vans to sell produce near local shops and this has been referred to us by the Brierfield and Reedley area committee also.”
