AN MP is still holding out hope that several schools in Rossendale could be in line for major investment after lodging a Parliamentary question.
Graham Jones, Labour MP for Haslingden and Hyndburn, asked Education Secretary Nick Gibb about the future of several sites earmarked for improvement under the next wave of Lancashire’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
These included Alder Grange, Whitworth High, Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar, Fearns College, and All Saints RC High.
Mr Gibb said his department was ‘reviewing existing capital expenditure to inform decisions about future capital investment’.
He added a report, due later this year, would include schools not yet prioritised under BSF.
Mr Jones said: “Tough decisions must be made in order to get the best value for money.
“But this appears to have been at the expense of giving future generations the educational resources they need and deserve.”
