ELEVEN charities have benefited from the disbanding of Blackburn Indoor Bowling Club.
Members decided to call time on their dream to find an alternative home for the club after Albion Mill in Ewood was closed and later demolished.
Plans to build rinks at Oswaldtwistle Mill fell through after costs spiralled.
Now £8,500 remaining in the club’s bank account has been allocated to:
- East Lancashire Hospice
- Anthony Nolan Trust
- Chrohn's Disease
- North West Air Ambulance
- Christies Hospital
- St Francis House Children’s Hospice
- Leukemia Research
- East Lancashire Federation for Junior Bowlers
- URC Bowling Club
- Blackburn Subs Bowling Club
- Dugdale Bowling Club.
The bowls and bowling shoes will be moved to Darwen Leisure Centre where they will be sold.
The money raised will be added to Darwen Indoor funds to offset future price increases.
