AN East Lancashire student has secured a place on an Indian newspaper to cover the Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Imran Sidat, from Blackburn is one of just four undergraduates from the University of Central Lancashire to have gained a place.
The third year sports journalism student is now spending 10 days at the games with Stephen Muncaster, Beverley Rimmer and Sam Ross.
They will be contributing to the print and online editions of the Hindustan Times.
That newspaper is India’s biggest English language newspaper.
They will also carry out research for their final year in sports journalism projects.
Imran said: “I am very excited and thankful to be selected to go and work at one of the biggest sporting events in the world, especially going as a student, as not many will be given an opportunity like this.
“I feel it will not only be a terrific experience but also a great learning curve.”
