A TEENAGE Elvis Presley impersonator is ‘All Shook Up’ after scooping a prestigious award.

Jared Warne, 17, of Morse Street, Burnley, was presented with the Gold Lame Award at The Porthcawl Elvis Festival, in South Wales.

The award has cemented his status as one of the UK’s top 1950s-era Elvis tribute artists.

The Blackburn College Student has been a fan of the King for a number of years, but has been performing professionally for 12 months.

He said: “I’ve liked Elvis since I was a kid. I saw him on TV and thought ‘wow, that guy has everything’.

“When I was younger I used to copy him messing about, but last year I decided to do it professionally and it’s paid off.

“I’ve spent a lot of time watching videos and working with my vocal coach Chris Broughton, who’s been really good.”

Jared, who went to Fisher More High School, Colne, got to perform with top rock ‘n’ roll band Red Alert to a sell out crowd at the festival.

And there was yet another treat in store as he was presented the award by Charles Stone, Elvis’s original tour manager, who jetted in from his home in Texas especially for the event.

Jared, who is on a performing musician course at college, said: “When I shook his hand I told him it was a real privilege to meet him. It’s surreal that he knew Elvis and I got my award from him.

“Winning the award was the best moment of my life.”

Jared lives with his mum Sandra Speight, brother Simon, 24, and sister Elizabeth, 16.

His dream is to make a living from performing to Elvis fans all over the world.

“Someone mentioned on Facebook that people had been talking about me in Memphis, so fingers crossed something could happen there,” he said.
