FIVE families of travellers set up camp on Blackburn's ASDA supermarket car park.
Each with their own caravan and car, they pitched up at Asda in Lower Audley Retail Park, Blackburn on Tuesday, saying they were 'on holiday' from London.
Asda officials said they had been working to move the families away from the land.
When asked, one man living in a caravan near the store’s petrol station, said: “There’s five families that have come up from London on holiday visiting family in this area.
“The police have moved us on everywhere we’ve been so there was no option but to come here.
“It’s not ideal for the children being here, so we’re moving on soon.”
A spokeswoman for the store today said four of the five families had now moved on.
She said: “We do everything we can to move travellers along so as to not cause any problems for our regular customers."
One shopper who asked not to be named, said: “We have travellers near where we live in Lower Darwen and it’s not right that they put their caravans wherever they like while we have to fork out for council tax."
Another said: “Why do they come here when there’s special sites for them to use?”
Spencer Ford, 43, from Blackburn, disagreed. He said: “I came down the footpath by the caravans and I don’t have a problem with it.
“They’re not doing any harm to anyone.”
