AN attacker who set about a woman with a pair of stilettos in a club may end up behind bars.

Amy Barcroft, 26, of Park Lane, Great Harwood, was convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm, after a two day trial at Burnley Crown Court.

She was bailed until October 26 for a pre-sentence report.

Recorder Raymond Herman, who will sentence her at Lancaster Crown Court, warned her not to think the fact he was asking for a report indicated any particular type of sentence.

The court had been told how victim Melissa Harrison was left with a gashed head after she was hit by the defendant on February 7 in a Great Harwood club.

Sarah Statham, prosecuting, told the jury Miss Harrison went out with two friends Rebecca Baxter and Nicola McIntosh and just before midnight they were in Sopranos when Barcroft bumped into the victim.

Miss Harrison turned to look at the defendant, who had a pair of stiletto shoes in her hand.

Barcroft asked the victim what she thought she was looking at and then struck her several times with the shoes.

Miss Statham said Miss Baxter stepped in to drag the defendant away.

She had known Barcroft since she was a child and was able to name her.

The defendant went outside and was seen on CCTV, standing in the doorway with a pair of shoes in her hand.
