A 40-year-old dad of four has died just days after suffering a massive stroke.
Lee Young, the former landlord of the Broadway pub in Accrington, died last week and leaves four young sons, two of them aged just three and 18 months.
His devastated family said the death of the former warehouse supervisor at Broughton’s in Hapton had left everyone in shock.
The Blackburn Rovers season ticket holder had been diagnosed with high blood pressure six years ago but his family said the full-time dad to Brandon and Lucas had no major health problems.
Mr Young, a heavy metal and punk music enthusiast, was due to marry his fiancee Leane Cuncarr, 28, next year.
He lived with his family in Emma Street, Accrington, and died on Tuesday last week (21) when it was decided to switch off his life support machine at Royal Preston Hospital.
He also had two other sons, Liam, 20, a soldier currently based in Cyprus with the Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, and Macauley, 14.
His mother Pat lives in West End, Oswaldtwistle.
Ms Cuncarr, who was made redundant from her receptionist job earlier this month, said: “We had gone to pick the children up from nursery when he said he got pins and needles in his left arm. Then his face started to drop and his leg went numb.
“We called an ambulance and he was taken to hospital.
“They said he suffered a massive stroke."
Mr Young, a former Hyndburn Park and Moorhead school pupil, had undergone two operations in a bid to reduce pressure on his brain following the stroke on Tuesday, September 14.
Ms Cuncarr said that doctors told her that he suffered a bleed on the brain, which caused the stroke.
She added: “We were planning to get married. He was made redundant two years ago but we were happy. He stayed at home and I worked as a receptionist.
“Then, just a week before his stroke, I was made redundant and now Lee is gone."
Mr Young’s funeral will take place at Accrington Crematorium tomorrow (Thursday) at 12.20am before a wake at the Castle pub in Whalley Road.
