THE discovery of a ‘badly decomposed’ body at a flat is being treated as murder.

Two men from Blackburn are being held by detectives as they continue to investigate the circumstances of the death at Rutland Close, Clayton-le-Moors.

Police said they had arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of murder and a 30-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The body of a man, which police believe had been in the flat for a ‘significant period of time’, was found at 1.30pm on Monday after officers were called to check on the occupants by a concerned member of the public.

The identity of the man and the cause of death are yet to be confirmed and detectives from the Force Major Investigation Team are waiting on the results of a post mortem examination , due to be held later today.
