ANTIQUE collectors from across the North flocked to Todmorden for a chance to be a part of the hit BBC TV show Flog It! yesterday.
People turned out in their droves to have their hidden treasures and trinkets valued by the TV show’s experts at the Town Hall.
Everyone who attended was given a chance to have their items valued and some owners were offered a chance to sell them at auction.
Michael Kirk, 73, of Walsden, near Todmorden, took a painted leather Javanese shadow puppet, which is over 100 years old and was bought for less than £15 in the 1970s. But it was rejected for auction because of its ‘faded’ condition.
Mr Kirk said: “With it being so old, you don’t expect it to be mint do you?"
Rita Finn, 62, was first through the doors at the town hall after making the journey from Rochdale.
The self-confessed Flog It addict took along a pair of continental vases, a 1960s women’s compact mirror, another vase and some Medina glass.
She said she was very excited to meet the show’s presenter, Paul Martin.
“I got to shake Paul’s hand because we were the first people there,” she said.
“The two continental vases were valued at between £10 and £20, the other vase at £10 and the compact at between £20 and £30.
"We were told the Medina glass was worth about £40, but that we should keep hold of it as it might go up.
“It was brilliant. We really enjoyed the day. We watch the show every day if we’re in.”
The show, which regularly attracts two million viewers was filmed from 9.30am to 4pm.
