THIS is the first look at two ‘stunning’ new schools in the second phase of Blackburn with Darwen’s education transformation.
The borough's Buildings Schools for the Future, BSF, team has created these designs for Witton Park High School and a new school off Haslingden Road, Blackburn, which is yet to be named.
The artist impressions show the state-of-the-art facilities that students from Witton Park High School, Blakewater College, Crosshill School, Newfield School and Beardwood Humanities College will be using under the revamp.
Students and staff will have access to extensive sport facilities including grass football pitches, flood lit all-weather pitches and a gym, a winter garden and the latest IT equipment.
With construction for the new schools due to start in the new year once the final funding is approved by the Department of Education next month pupils will move into the sites in September 2012.
Blakewater and Crosshill will join up to become a new 'East Blackburn Learning Community'.
The new Witton Park High School will be built in a new location within Witton Park and Newfield School students will be based there.
Alan Chambers, headteacher at Blakewater College, said: “All these brand new facilities will give all staff, students and the community at the new school fantastic and inclusive opportunities to immerse themselves in a real state-of-the-art education experience.”
Dean Logan, headteacher at Witton Park High School, said: “Governors, staff, parents and particularly students are excited by the plans for school."
