COUNCIL bosses in Gisburn have given the go-ahead to create a permanent link with the French town used to mock the Ribble Valley village in a national advertising campaign.
Gisburn Parish Council is planning to write to the mayor of the Côte d’Azur community of Menton in a bid to forge a twinning arrangement.
The move to create links with the town on the continent came after a Renault advert depicted the sunshine-drenched Côte d’Azur, in stark contrast to its dismal portrayal of Gisburn.
The parish council is proposing to link Gisburn Primary School with a French school.
