A PERVERT said to be a ‘danger to females’ flouted a sexual offences prevention order three times, a court heard.
Brian Campbell, 58, was banned from associating with all children under 16 after offences involving girls.
Burnley Crown Court heard how Campbell had also been on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years, but that had now expired. The SOPO was indefinite.
The hearing was told when the defendant was arrested on May 20, he told police he thought he was allowed to speak to boys, and thought it was okay to say ‘hello’ to children in the street.
The defendant, then living in Accrington, but now ordered to stay at a hostel in Liverpool, admitted three breaches of the SOPO.
Judge Beverley Lunt said Campbell was a ‘danger to females’ and the order had been drafted to protect them.
Campbell was given 52 weeks in custody, suspended for two years, with two years’ supervision.
