HARD-working students from Nelson and Colne College were honoured at an awards night.

Emma Mitchell was named A-Level Student of the Year, while Eric Smith took the Vocational Student of the Year award, and Aisha Amina the prize for Occupational Student of the Year.

Students were given prizes for achievements in individual subject areas.

Principal Lyn Surgeon said: “Nelson and Colne College sixth form has a tradition of excellence and I am thrilled that the class of 2010 has built on this success with some of the best results in Lancashire.

“As principal, I have pleasure in speaking on behalf of all staff that we are immensely proud of everything our students have achieved this year.

“And I am confident the foundations they have laid at Nelson and Colne College, will be the start of a glittering future.”
