A GOOD Samaritan who was savagely beaten when he confronted yobs has thanked an off-duty doctor for coming to his aid.
As the Lancashire Telegraph reported yesterday, Tony Sinacola, 49, was beaten up after he tried to protect staff at a Chinese takeaway in Ramsbottom from racist abuse.
He said the doctor gave him vital assistance after he suffered a broken ankle, cracked ribs and a bruised face.
“An off-duty doctor helped me and I would really like to know who she was just to say thank you because without her, I might not be here," he said.
The doctor is described as being in her late 20s with dark hair.
Mr Sinacola is organiser of the World Black Pudding Throwing Championships and was returning home with his wife Mary and daughter.
He runs Chadwicks Original Bury Black Puddings, in Waterfoot, and provides the black puddings for the contest every year.
Mr Sinacola said the day had been spoiled by the thugs.
"Ten minutes earlier or later it would have been someone else attacked,” he said.
“A good day out was spoiled by some thugs. They just didn't care.
“All I remember was they knocked me down and started jumping on me.
"In some ways, I'm glad I don't remember.”
The attack happened on Sunday at 10pm.
Police have bailed two men, aged 19 and 21, on suspicion of assault until November 15.
