AN improved railway station in Darwen could help bring more executives into the town, says a local councillor.

Lib Dem Roy Davies said the £500,000 plans by Blackburn with Darwen Council in conjunction with Network rail, would attract professionals.

Coun Davies said: “With the revamp, people could live in the town centre and hop on a train just around the corner taking them to Manchester or Manchester airport, where they could get on the shuttle plane to London.”

If the revamp is given the green light, the station, which is on the Clitheroe-Manchester line, would benefit from improved waiting facilities, CCTV and ticket machines.
