A TOP midwife has heaped praise on the new midwife-led Blackburn Birth Centre in Park Lee Road.

Prof Cathy Warwick, general secretary of the Royal College of Midwives, is an internationally-renowned childbirth expert who advises the Government on maternity.

She said: “I am so impressed by this wonderful facility. "The main thing you would feel if you were a pregnant woman walking through the front door is that the people working here care about me and respect me, because they have taken real care about the environment and made it a welcoming and comfortable place.

“I would immediately feel confidence and trust in those people.”

More than 200 women have already booked to have their babies at the centre.
