EMPLOYEES from five Burnley firms will ditch their day jobs on Friday to help change the lives of 60 students from across the town.

They are taking part in Give and Gain Day, the UK’s largest day of action for employee volunteers, organised by Business in the Community.

In Burnley employee volunteers from Aircelle, Lend Lease, BBC, UCLan and Class of your Own are taking part in day of Science and Technology activities hosted by the University of Central Lancashire at their Burnley Campus.

Students from Marsden Heights, Hameldon, Shuttleworth, Sir John Thursby and Blessed Trinity will benefit from workshops as diverse as designing their own school to an in depth insight to Pythagoras.

Raksha Pattni, regional director for Business in the Community, said: “This year more companies and volunteers than ever have shown their commitment .”
