A SOLDIER from Colne has become one of the first injured service men to join a golfing charity launched by the Duke of York, Prince Andrew.
Sapper Gregg Stevenson of the 24 Commando Engineer Regiment, who lost both his legs while serving in Afghanistan, has joined the On Course Foundation, of which the Duke is patron.
Its aim is to assist the rehabilitation of servicemen through playing the sport.
Stevenson took part in a pilot scheme ahead of the launch and played against The American Wounded Warriors while on a golf trip to Orlando in April.
He said: “If someone had said that I would be playing golf in Orlando 13 months after my injury, I would have told them they were more injured in the head than I am in my legs.”
