LABOUR comfortably retained a seat in Hyndburn's Peel ward after a council by-election yesterday.
Graham Jones stood down from the council after becoming the area's MP last month.
Labour’s Wendy Dwyer comfortably beat Tory candidate Daniel Cassidy by 592 votes to 289.
Turnout was 25.69 per cent and the results were declared this morning.
