NINETEEN workers in the North West were killed while at work last year, official figures have revealed.
But the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said that the number was a reduction on the 23 killed in 2008/09.
Nationally, the number of workplace fatalities is also at an all-time low, according to the HSE.
HSE North West boss David Sowerby said: “While it’s heartening to see a reduction in the number of work-related deaths in the North West, it’s simply not good enough that 19 people failed to come home from work to their families last year.”
He said the HSE would remain committed to ensuring fewer people died at work.
