ORGANISERS of Bacup and Stacksteads Carnival have been given a pat on the back for boosting community spirit.
Carnival fever swept through the towns on Sunday, with a traditional parade, rides and fun activities.
Chairman David Morris said: “The event was a fantastic success and I am delighted with the hard work put in by the BASCO team.
“Everyone worked really hard all day long and I would like to praise our marshals, and the police, who were supportive throughout.
“This was the first carnival in Bacup for six years, and the first in the park for 21 years.
"We have all learned a lot and we hope now to have put it back on the map, back where it belongs.
“The community spirit was clear for all to see.”
