A DOG dumped on wasteland is on the road to recovery after being rescued by a passer-by.
Sadie, a four-year-old Staffordshire cross, was found in Blackburn suffering from a broken front left leg, an injury that vets said they believe had been caused some time ago.
After she was taken to vets in the Ribble Valley efforts were made to find her owners through a chip that she was wearing.
But after no-one would admit responsibility for the dog the man who found her has now agreed to take her on.
Alicia Butler, from Myerscough Veternary Group in Clayton-le-Dale, said: “Sadie had just been dumped on wasteland and left for dead.
"It is shocking that people can behave in that way.”
The Hyndburn Stray Dogs in Need charity has agreed to pay for the cost of the dog's care, some £400.
